ShaderMap Version 3.x
Normal Editor: Layer Types
There are 4 kinds of layer types. They are Base layer, Rasterized Normal, Displacement, and Shape.
  • The Base layer is the normal map imported into the normal editor, it is similar to a Rasterized Normal layer but cannot have a profile or be moved from the base position.
  • A Rasterized Normal layer contains normal vectors encoded as Red, Green, and Blue colors.
  • The Displacement layer type contains both displacement pixels and rasterized normals which are generated from the displacment pixels.
  • The Shape type is nearly the same as Displacement with the addition of a bezier curve and control points which define the shape.
